Sydney Swans player, Tadhg Kennelley, said yesterday AFLW players may be at risk of serious injuries if they are not trained in how to handle the intense contact in the game. 

Special Medical Commentator, Dr Peter Larkins agrees and says some of the athletes in the AFLW are used to ‘contact but not collision’

‘We’ve seen a couple of head injuries in the womens footy that have just been…untidy,’ Dr Larkins told Simon Beaumont on 6PR’s Afternoons show. 

‘The training skills that often go with learning how to land when you tackle, how to protect your shoulder, how to protect your head is learned over many, many seasons,’ he added.
