Magpies finish Fremantle’s season
Collingwood have wormed their way up the AFL ladder for the finals after defeating the Dockers by nine-points in thrilling game.
Fremantle lead at the first two breaks and but then the scores were tied at three-quarter time, but the Magpies kicked the last three goals for their 9.13 (67) to 11.10 (76) win.
Hayden Ballantyne kicked four goals while and Bradley Hill finished with 35 disposals.
Michael Johnson played his 244th and final game for Fremantle, while the Dockers also farewell Danyle Pearce and Lee Spurr, but Pearce and Spurr weren’t in the final 22.

“The boys could have went into their shell and played their own game today but [we] made the focus real simple today and I reckon the boys ticked every box today,” Fremantle retiree Michael Johnson told 6PR after the game.
“I think on and off the field there’s some really strong signs” Fremantle coach Ross Lyons said after their final game of the 2018 season.
“I don’t think we played great footy, we were out of shape for most of the game,” Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley said after the game.
“There’s been times where as a coach you come down and you don’t have to say anything because he’s got it all under control,” Fremantle Assistant Coach Michael Prior says about Johnson.
“He played a really important role,certainly in my time, and when Fremantle were a top four side a few years ago he was crucial to that.” 6PR’s Luke McPharlin pays tribute to his former teammate Michael Johnson.
